Virtual Classrooms

Virtual Classrooms are a lot like regular classrooms but they are available 24 hrs a day-7 day a week. Just like a regular classroom teachers can give assignment, quizzes and surveys. Teachers can chat with students, parents and other guests. Students who take virtual classes usually study from videos and textbooks and they complete individual and group assignment. They take quizzes and submit there work electronically.

I think virtual classrooms are good for students at the high school and college level. Maybe some middle schools class too.

I agree with you that virtual classrooms are good for students at the high school and college level. Middle school would be a good option for disabled students or students without transportation, or who travel with their families often. I don't know if virutal classrooms would be very good at the elementary level simply due to the fact that young children may not have experience with computers. Nonetheless, virtual classrooms seem to be the fad of the future!

I also agree that virtual classrooms are great for high school and college students and not so good for younger children. I think yound children might have more trouble with computers.

In response to Jill Nicholson's comment: I definitely agree with your examples of resons that virtual classrooms might be a good option for middle school students. The students with disabilities aren't always able to come to school, so if there was a type of learning that could be done at home that would be very useful to the teacher. This way, they wouldn't have a delay in their learning.

I agree! i think elementary students should be required to go to an actual class room. i dont think students learn as much as they would online compared to a normal class.

I think that virtual classrooms should be available for some high school classes and college courses. Some high schoolers might take advantage too much of the fact that their class is online and may not be responsible enough to get the work done on time. College students know when they need to get their work done and knows the consequences if you don't complete it on time.

As far as virtual classrooms being used for middle school students, I think it could be better used as a supplement to a regular in-school classroom setting. The virtual classroom can serve for middle school students to access & submit their homework assignments, to access lesson summaries or supplemental learning tools such as video related to the lesson from that day, and to track their progress and grades. Also, it'd be great for students to be able to e-mail their teacher during specified hours for help with their homework that night.
